A new series ‘On Cloud Nine’ starts on Thursday 27 January at 21:00 CET. The series features profane (non-religious) music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods: dances, songs and instrumentals, sometimes joyful and sometimes melancholic, music from all over Europe.
‘On Cloud Nine’ is broadcast on the 4th Thursday of the month from 21.00 to 22.00 CET.
The first programme of the series (on 27 January) starts with music by Monteverdi from the early Baroque followed by Renaissance songs from a number of French composers and finally some music from the 18th century.
The music is taken from both newly-released and older CDs. In this first programme there is special attention for a new CD “Générations” with violin sonatas in the French-Italian style by violinist Théotime Langlois de Swarte, accompanied by William Christie.
