In this episode: ‘Scherzo?’, a programme about a 19th-century one hit wonder and two musicians who want to rescue him from oblivion.

Why does one composer become world famous while another is forgotten? In Scherzo?, Mattijs van de Woerd and Manon Schreurs follow cellist Doris Hochscheid and pianist Frans van Ruth who have been searching for traces of the forgotten Dutch composer Daniel van Goens (1858 – 1904) for 16 years. What begins with a small, playful cello piece: the “Scherzo”, turns into a journey through archives, family letters, underground stations and cemeteries.
