Ode to Arthur Russell.
He is still not a household name, but American cellist and singer Arthur Russell now enjoys cult status among a small circle of fans. As a token of their admiration, a number of fellow musicians have recorded a double album filled with songs by the musical pioneer who died of AIDS in 1992. Among them are some of the biggest names in music, such as Norwegian singer-songwriter José Gonzáles and American folk innovator Sam Amidon.
