Seatrain — pop rooted in bluegrass
Pop music with a hint of country comes in many forms and flavours, especially in the United States. Pop with bluegrass as its source of inspiration is much rarer. A good example is the band Seatrain. Band members include prominent names from the bluegrass music scene, such as Richard Greene (violin) and Peter Rowan (guitar and vocals). The band showed their ambition by bringing in Beatles producer George Martin to produce their third album, Marblehead Messenger. That was in 1971. Two years later, a fourth album was released — but after that, the curtain fell.
