Ingrid Laubrock werd in 1970 geboren in Stadtlohn, Duitsland. Haar hoofdinstrumenten zijn de tenor- en sopraansaxofoon. De laatste jaren manifesteert ze zich ook meer en meer als een zeer talentvolle ‘Third stream’ componiste. Ze studeerde onder meer bij Dave Liebman en Jean Toussaint. Laubrock is de laatste decennia vooral actief in de Amerikaanse avant-garde-scene. Ze is gehuwd met slagwerker Tom Rainey.
