De Podcast van Corrie van Binsbergen

In this episode, composer and guitarist Corrie van Binsbergen discusses Parelduiken, a wonderful project dedicated to rediscovering overlooked music. Now in its third year, the project is organised by Nieuw Geneco in partnership with New Music NOW and TivoliVredenburg, with support from a donation by the Buma Social Fund.

The idea is simple but valuable: to give neglected compositions a new lease of life. Composers were asked to nominate works that have not been performed for at least ten years but deserve another outing in a live concert. A jury has selected five pieces from the many submissions, each by a different composer. The works will be performed by the Nieuw Amsterdams Peil ensemble at a lunchtime concert in the Hertz venue at TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht on 13 November.

The concert will be filmed, and the recordings will also feature in this podcast. In follow-up episodes, scheduled for the end of this year or early next year, we will meet the selected composers and hear more about their rediscovered works.

The five composers are Bart Spaan, Gerda Geertens, Huba de Graaff, Riek Westerhof and Corrie van Binsbergen.
