A Soaking Wet Suit
In songs, rain and broken love often go hand in hand: drops fall from the sky like pennies from heaven, while rain tapping on the roof brings with it a familiar sense of melancholy.
Carole King’s demo was originally made for pop idol Bobby Vee, but the song eventually became a hit for King herself.
Then there is the man who wrote a song about walking in the rain while behind bars himself. He recorded it with The Prisonaires, but it was ‘crybaby’ Johnnie Ray who turned the song into a million-selling hit.
And another heartbroken man sings about watching the rain through the bars of his prison cell.
An hour of rain songs.
