(Frank) Eaton and (Kevin) Fullen were once the founders of the ‘No New York’ studio. But you wouldn’t guess that from their fourth album, Butterfly Compound: filled with beautiful cinematic ambient panoramas.
Robert Henke is of course not only known for his solo work, but also as a member of Monolake. Studies For Thunder has all the depth—and the calming effect—of a passing thunderstorm, yet no natural recordings were used. The soundscape was built by “sending short pulses of filtered noise through a complex network of granular delay lines.”
Jeff Bridges (yes, The Dude himself!) released a very special album in 2015: Sleeping Tapes. It’s an atmospheric ‘spoken word’ album on which he muses about all sorts of sleep-related matters. On this instrumental track from the accompanying bonus album Sleep Further, there is no spoken text. But ‘sleepy’ it definitely is.
