Dutch singer and composer Sara Bax, together with flugelhorn player Angelo Verploegen and cellist/composer Joshua Herwig, forms an exceptional trio that connects the lyrical, the jazzy, and the classical.
Their latest collaboration can be heard on the album She’s the Poem (Challenge Records, 2025) – a collection of ten poetic portraits featuring, in addition to Bax’s voice, Van Vliet (piano), Herwig (cello), and Verploegen (flugelhorn). Verploegen, a veteran of European jazz big bands, brings his characteristic warm horn sounds. Herwig is an award-winning young cellist/composer whose ensembles and solo work transcend the boundaries of classical, jazz, and folk. Together they create an intimate soundscape that invites you to listen attentively and experience the interplay.
