The Orlando Festival (at Theater Kerkrade) had always programmed many highbrow performances, but since the end of regional subsidies in 2023, it also meant the end of the festival. Luckily, in the Concertzender’s archives, we can find a large number of its concert series – all recorded by our top technician Wijnand de Groot.
For this episode of Concertzender Live, Leo A. De Bock has made a wonderful selection. We can listen to works from Guillaume Lekeu, Rudolf Escher, a ‘pointless little thing’ from Johannes Brahms. a ‘trivial piece’ from Tchaikovsky, the Cello Sonata op.69 from Beethoven and more – all performed by renowned musicians.
