Stefan Heucke and the Diabelli Variations.

The German composer Stefan Heucke (photo) is practically unknown in the Netherlands. He was born in 1959 and studied in Stuttgart and Detmold. He has written primarily for German orchestras and ensembles. Heucke’s works range from piano miniatures to vocal music, and from concertos to operas.
In this programme, you will hear Heucke’s own variations on Schubert’s Ländler, inspired by the Diabelli Variations: 33 short piano pieces, each with its own character.
