In JazzNotJazz, we’ve compiled a unique mix tape from a hundred years of jazz recordings, adding some meaningful and sometimes frivolous facts. As it’s also about The Soul of Jazz, there will definitely be some detours into affiliated styles. We have (irregularly) recurring elements like “Ellington Train Songs”, “Jazz Cameo’s”, “Keith Plays Miles”, “Jazz B4 ‘44” and “More is Better”.
This episode, a ‘Keith Plays Miles’, which means that Miles Davis and Keith Jarrett perform the same Standard in an acoustic setting. A friend of the show plays two of his compositions live. World music, ambient and dub united! A rithmic show from Don Ellis’ bigband. The latest studio album from Michael Brecker.
And last but not least, with regard to B4 ‘44, three tracks that 20 years later held great significance for Duke Ellington.
