It remains an age-old debate: is music created using samples “real” music or not? While the debate continues, so does the stream of music that elevates sampling to high art. This situation provided ample reason for two *Crosslinks* producers to independently decide to showcase this art form.
The showcase begins with PopArt, at 22:00 CET, curated this month by Stefan Koopmanschap and hosted by Marjolein van Elteren. Inspired by the upcoming album Soft Waving with a Tik by Dutch producer Multi-Panel, the show pays tribute to the art of sampling, featuring music by artists such as Eboman, The Art of Noise, Multi-Panel and The Orb.
The Orb is also the focus of Electronic Frequencies which follows at 23:00 CET. Producer Thijs Geritz has selected a number of gems from the duo’s extensive body of work, including collaborations with Roger Eno, Lee “Scratch” Perry and nitraM.
