Pocket Contcerts (25) – Ntjam Rosie
Coming to you from the studios of the Concertzender / World of Jazz: Pocket Concerts. Featuring this edition: Ntjam Rosie
Rooted in soul, jazz, and the rhythms of her Cameroonian heritage, Ntjam Rosie has carved out a singular voice on the European scene — simultaneously warm, spiritual, and fiercely modern. Joined here by an inspired ensemble — Anan den Boer (keys), Koko Lawson (percussion), and Hassan Ait Moumad (guitar) — she reimagines her songs with stripped-down intimacy and fluid improvisation.
Over the past decade, Ntjam Rosie has earned wide acclaim for her genre-defying artistry. Her album Family and Friends (2023) was hailed for its bold mix of groove and vulnerability, following the success of Breaking Cycles and The One. She has graced stages from the North Sea Jazz Festival to BBC Radio, and received nominations for the Edison Jazzism Award and Sena Performers Award.
Keyboardist Anan den Boer is known for his work with Marutyri and Benjamin Herman, while Koko Lawson and Hassan Ait Moumad bring rich rhythmic and harmonic textures drawn from West African and North African traditions.
Together, they create a set that breathes — a dialogue between jazz, soul, and tradition, anchored by Rosie’s radiant presence and her message of resilience, faith, and love.
